Let me start by saying, because I was late to the event I didn’t get into the Bring Back Our Snoics rally because security wasn’t letting in any extra people who already hadn’t been inside because the building was at capacity. The moment security said the venue was at capacity, I thought to myself, oh that’s why there’s so many damn people outside.

I will admit, my only annoyance in not getting in was that Macklemore was downstairs, and I had a feeling he would be there. However I digress.

By now it’s no secret Seattle is ready for a basketball team whether or not we do or don’t get the Kings, however I think people would be shocked to see how much the city came together to voice their opinion on why we should get a new team.

Bring_back_our_sonics_rally

Rather than having a basic, boring, and annoying rally, Seattle stepped it up by having performances by Geo of Blue Scholars, Nacho Picasso, Grynch, Dyme Def, Ayelogics, Jarv Dee, Tilson, Sam Lachow & Raz Simone, Neema, all while the show is being hosted by Sonics legend Shawn Kemp.

“Let’s get out there one last time before the NBA Owners vote to bring the NBA back to Seattle.
Hang out with the best in Hip Hop and NBA greats both current and past. Green and Gold all day.”

While on Instagram, I seen my good friends over at Seaspot.com post the photo above, call me cheap but when I seen the event is FREE and has performances by Geo of Blue Scholars, Nacho Picasso, Grynch, Dyme Def, Ayelogics, Jarv Dee, Tilson, Sam Lachow & Raz Simone, Neema and DJ Nphared; not to mention the show will be hosting by Shawn Kemp and Tilson, there was no way I wasn’t going to pop my head in there!

Even if you don’t care about the Sonics, if you live in Seattle and you love NW Hip-Hop, I don’t see why you would miss a free show with Nacho Picasso, Dyme Def, Jarv Dee and Neema, but that’s just me!

Doors open at 6pm, entry is FREE, and this is a 21 and up event!

With that being said, for those of you who are saying the NBA doesn’t care about what we think and this event is stupid. I say you’re stupid, and you’re clearly afraid to step out the box and do something different. Just because “they” may not care, doesn’t mean we can’t come together and still rally. Last I checked, there are tones of protest that go on and no one cares, yet they still get done every year or every month.

With that being said, ignorant comments like that is simply why my city has no togetherness, there’s always some dumba*s coming out of no where when we want to do something good and call it stupid. At the end of the day, the event is free and I plan on getting drink and smoke on.

As always, if you see me LET’S TAKE PICTURES :)

ALSO, for live photos of the event, follow me on Instagram @Naybesa or follow me on Twitter @JanayNaybesa because I will be tweeting  during the event, along with posting photos onto my Instagram of the performances and more!

I recently had the opportunity to interview Seattle’s Si Young after one of his recent performances. During the show Si Young spoke about “BlackTop Opera,” which in the interview I found out was his newest soon to drop EP. Si Young says BlackTop Opera is going to be more focused on him, and his experiences growing up on the South side of Seattle.

We also talk about Si Young’s biggest musical influences, new videos coming out, drop date from BlackTop Opera, the type of people he likes to work with, and much more.

About two weeks ago, I posted new music by Feezable The Germ entitled ‘Al Capone Suite,’ where I also asked Germ his inspiration behind song:

Naybesa: Inspiration behind the song and song title?
My inspiration behind this record was to do a classic, but fun Hip-Hop record, but at the same time I wanted to deliver for the ladies.

Earlier today, Germ dropped the full music video to his new single ‘Al Capone Suite.’ Check out the music video above and post your thoughts below!
